Internships

Internships are an important tool for college students and young professionals looking to break into the field of accounting and financial planning. Schell & Hogan, LLP seeks interns who possess the qualities of maturity, character, poise, and confidence. Paid internships run from January through April each year and are full-time during the internship period.

Open Positions:

Staff Accountant

We are looking for a skilled individual to join our accounting department. A staff accountant at Schell & Hogan is responsible for helping in the preparation of business returns, individual returns, estate and trust returns, financial statements related to tax returns, corporate reporting requirements, tax research, etc. Our services also include helping to keep our clients informed on new legislation in order to ensure their compliance with all regulations. A staff accountant is expected to support the firm’s goals and values through all professional communication and by maintaining positive working relationships. Our ideal candidate for this position is someone who is detail-oriented, driven, and eager to assist clients. Candidates must have earned their Master’s in Accounting and CPA license or be pursuing both. Competitive pay based on experience

SKILLS:
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory
  • Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheet and accounting software
  • Customer service orientation
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines

Bookkeeper

We are looking for a skilled individual to join our bookkeeping department. This job role will consist of performing payroll services for clients both on a routine and as needed basis. Routine tasks include financial statement preparation, payroll processing services, payroll tax return preparation, and QuickBooks support. Our services also include helping to keep our clients informed on new legislation in order to ensure their compliance with all regulations. Our ideal candidate for this position is someone who is detail-oriented and is familiar with QuickBooks and other accounting software. Three years of previous bookkeeping experience is preferred. Competitive pay based on experience.
